Doing the Math on Pay Inequity!

06 Sep

After hearing Lilly Ledbetter speak last night at the Democratic National Convention, I kept wondering how the math broke down on pay inequity between men and women.  If most women only earns $0.77 for every $1.00 that a man receives, what might a real woman earn per hour or each week?

So I just took a simple hourly wage and did the math.  If you want to know how much more a man may receive for the same job, this is the equation:

(.23X) + X = Z

X = Hourly wage or yearly salary of a woman

Z = Higher hourly wage or yearly salary a man would receive for the same job
